Manama, March 21, 2015: Husain Al Ajmi, Assistant Director and Head of Centre of Insurance at BIBF recently won the “Achievement Award” at the Bahrain Insurance Association (BIA) Awards to recognize professional and academic contributions of insurance industry leaders at the local, regional, and international levels and highlight the industry’s achievements.
A number of insurance industry leaders were honoured at the ceremony, which took place at the Rotana Hotel under the patronage of the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB). The event was attended by the Governor of the CBB Rasheed Al Maraj and leading banking and finance figures.
Al Ajmi expressed his appreciation and gratitude for this national initiative, which attests to the importance of the insurance industry as a key cog of economic development.
During his tenure at the BIBF, Al Ajmi said he was able to establish a unique educational and training base for the industry which covers the entire region. More than 600 specialists graduated from the BIBF with a diploma certified by the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) in the UK, and forged strategic partnerships with leading international institutes such as the CII, Life Office Management Association (LOMA) and the American Institute for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters (AICPCU).
Al Ajmi has over 20 years of experience in the insurance sector, and held the position of Head of Centre of Insurance at the BIBF for more than 15 years, during which he published and translated 16 key textbooks about insurance and risk management.
BIBF’s Centre for Insurance is the only institute in the world to offer the Advanced Diploma of the Chartered Insurance Institute in the Arabic language, created in response to growing regional demand for certified insurance specialists. The Centre of Insurance also offers a specialized diploma through distance education or regular courses to reach a wide segment of specialists around the world.
