GALAXY STAR 2017 PROGRAM TO BRING LOCAL TALENTS TO A GLOBAL STAGE

Yangon, Myanmar – Samsung Myanmar announced today that they will be collaborating with Namin Co., Ltd to create an exciting program for young vocalists in Myanmar. The aim of the program is to fulfill the passion and dreams of the vocal talents across Myanmar. The program will not only bring up youngsters to the music industry but also provide a platform where they can grow together with the program.

Galaxy Star is the very first of its kind in Myanmar with the biggest prize and many opportunities to explore for those who are talented in singing. Galaxy Star team will go to 15 cities of different states and divisions across Myanmar in order to discover the talents in each and every part of Myanmar. There will be a total of five steps in this program; Local Challenge, Premier Challenge, Galaxy Camp, Korea Training Camp and Dream League.

 “The idea of Galaxy Star is about giving everyone the chance to become a star. We think Galaxy star will also provide a flavor of K-Pop and ‘Hallayu’ (Korean Wave) effect to Myanmar talents,” Ko Zarni Win Htet added.

Anyone who is between 15 to 35 years old can participate in the program. The contestants between 15 to 18 years old will need to bring their parents’ consent form and NRC cards whereas the contestants above 18 years old will only need to bring their NRC cards.

The program includes five steps in total including Local Challenge, Premier Challenge, Galaxy Camp, Korea Training Camp and the Dream League.

Sponsored by Samsung Myanmar and produced by Namin Co., Ltd Galaxy Star program will be bringing in a team of professional production crew from Korea to work together with MRTV-4. The program will be aired on MRTV-4 every Friday between 9:15 PM – 10:15 PM starting from 7th April, 2017 for over five months consecutively.

Galaxy Star Program Details

The initial step, ‘Local Challenge’ will be held in 15 cities of different states and divisions nationwide and a total of 150 teams will be chosen from those cities in the very first stage. In the first stage, the participants need to sing a song in front of the judges and the judges will decide according to their talents. The selected participants can register for the second stage of this first step. In second stage, the judges will choose again for next step, Premier Challenge. ‘Premier Challenge’, the second step of this program will be held in both Yangon and Mandalay. A total of 70 teams will be chosen from this ‘Premier Challenge’ step. The third step of this program, ‘Galaxy Camp’ which will train the contestants for 7 days and a total of 12 teams will be chosen from this step.

Those selected 12 teams will be brought to Korea for three weeks for ‘Korea Training Camp’ where they will be trained not only for their singing skills but also for their stage performance skills and other necessary talents by professional trainers who has trained K-Pop artists in the past. A total of 10 teams will be chosen from this fourth step.

As the finale step of this program, called ‘Dream League’ which will be held in Yangon for 4 stages with different levels. In this final step, the finalists will be trained for one month in Yangon. The grand final winner will be chosen at the final level. The grand winner will receive 100 million MMK in cash and a chance to record and produce a solo album in Korea within a year and become a Global World Star.

In this program, the contestants will be chosen by professional judge’s opinion and as well as audiences’ opinion. The judges will mainly decide up until top 10. However, for the 4 live episodes of the final ‘Dream League’ step, the contestants will be chosen by audiences’ opinion along with professional judges’ opinion. The percentage of the judges’ opinion is 40 percent and the audiences’ opinion will be 60 percent. To choose the grand final winner in the final stage, the votes of audiences’ will be more important. The votes of the audiences will be collected by SMS.

In this program, the famous professional singers in Myanmar; Graham, Phoe Kar, Sone Thin Par, Phyu Phyu Kyaw Thein and J-Me will act as judges. Kaung Htet Zaw will be the host and San Thit La will be the presenter for this program.

Galaxy Star team will train the contestants including three intensive training camps not only for physical such as vocal training, styling, stage performance but also mental such as expressing their feeling and showing their expression. They will also provide accommodation, transportation and meals for all the contestants.
