Dubai, UAE – Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has won in three categories in the Hamdan bin Mohammed Award for Smart Government 2016. The winners were announced by HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, on his Twitter account. DEWA won the Best New Government Service category for its Green Charger initiative, Best Mobile Government Service category for its smart app, and the Best Website category for DEWA’s website.
HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, was pleased with the results.

DEWA launched the Green Charger initiative to establish the infrastructure and charging stations for electric vehicles to encourage members of society to use environmentally-friendly vehicles. DEWA has installed 100 charging stations across the Emirate in the first phase of the initiative. Through the Green Charger initiative, DEWA supports Dubai in its efforts to protect the environment and transform into a green economy.
DEWA’s smart app provides its customers with a unified and seamless experience. The app is both efficient and introduces a new and innovative way of displaying the services by providing a single integrated package that provides all the services and features that the user needs on the homepage. These included viewing and paying bills, and graphs to check and compare their use. The updated app gives customers the option to add other accounts to their main account, so that they can manage more than one account at the same time. They can add photos for each account to identify them instead of memorising account numbers.
DEWA’s website provides integrated services that meet the requirements of everyday life. This includes browsing the website, applying for the services, and completing the transactions. The website offers special services for each category of customer. The services are categorised according to the needs of each category to make it easier and faster for customers to complete their transactions. This was done based on a comprehensive study of the needs of each category to enhance their experience and improve quality of service. The website is compatible with all smart devices and phones. DEWA has made customer experience a priority when revamping its website. DEWA is committed to improving its services to meet the requirements of its customers and make them happier.
