Dr. Shayma Nawaf Al Fawwaz, Founder and CEO of GOSSIP The Brand, a leading company managing the popular GOSSIP Cafe and Desserts and other concepts, played a key role in inspiring youth participants at the recently concluded inaugural edition of the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Festival, the emirate’s largest entrepreneurship festival, which ran from November 21 to November 22, 2017 at the Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club. In her speech, Al Fawwaz shared her insight on entrepreneurship and how to succeed across today’s SME industry–encouraging the youth to take an active role and pursue their creative business ideas.
The pioneering event, which was organized under the patronage of Sheikha Bodour Bint Sultan Al Qassimi, showcased the best and brightest of the entrepreneurial ecosystem–celebrating the power of entrepreneurship and inspire further drive in more innovation.
The exciting two-day event featured inspirational talks, key panel discussions, engaging workshops, fireside chats and a pitching competition. The Sharjah Entrepreneurship Festival was expected to attract the participation of more than 1,500 youth participants, entrepreneurs, investors, senior government officials and prominent business leaders and personalities. Other speakers that were showcased at the festival include Mohamed Alabbar, Chairman, Emaar Properties; Fadi Ghandour, Executive Chairman, Wamda Capital; Badr Jafar, CEO of Crescent Enterprises and President of Crescent Petroleum. Discussions during the first day focused on the future of start-ups in the creative economy. Participants were also able to take part in networking events that aimed towards connecting investors with upcoming start-ups and entrepreneurs coming from different backgrounds.

The Sharjah Entrepreneurship Festival was aimed towards celebrating the power of entrepreneurship by bringing together the young and the established to innovate, create and grow. The festival focuses on creative economy, sustainability and social entrepreneurship–highlighting the new trends and opportunities relating to the creative sector.
