Hong Kong – The WMA Masters is pleased to announce nine finalists for its 2017/18 award on the theme TRANSITION. The finalists, listed in no particular order, are:

Billy H.C. KWOK – Hong Kong: After the Handover
Joseph, LEUNG Mong Sum – The Flag of Hong Kong, Waving in the Wind
SHEK Ming Fai Phil – Louis Daguerre’s Nightmare
Ka-Man TSE – Narrow Distances
YIM Sui-fong – The Unlocked Space
Finalists’ photographic works, responding to the theme in the context of Hong Kong, will be exhibited at the Hong Kong Central Library from 14th to 24th April 2018. Hong Kong based C&G Artpartment will curate the exhibition while the WMA will host a series of theme-related public engagement activities during the exhibition period. The winner of the WMA Masters will be announced at the exhibition on 14th April 2018.
At the same occasion, the WMA Commission 2015/16 – IDENTITY recipient, Ducky TSE Chi Tak will also showcase his works. Titled “All that Doesn’t”, the solo exhibition is a continuation of his solo exhibition “All that Matters” that will take place at the JCCAC in January 2018. The two exhibitions will discuss the IDENTITY of Hong Kong people through Tse’s body of work spanning 30 years.
The WMA Masters’ international panel of judges comprises industry leaders in photography, visual arts, publishing, and the non-profit sector. They include Zoher ABDOOLCARIM, Jacqueline FRANCIS, Yumi GOTO, Kevin W.Y. LEE, LEUNG Po-shan Anthony, Gladys LI, SC, JP and Sandra S. PHILLIPS.
