Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) is going to take part in the latest edition of the Arabian Travel Market with an aim to showcase unique tourism and hospitality offered to the visitors by Sharjah. The event will kick off from April 28 till May 1, 2019. Going to be held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, this event will bring forth innumerable opportunities for partnerships and development plans to encourage tourism.
SCTDA?s major purpose is to enhance tourism through promotion in the event. This will enable it to get the attention of investors and visitors. It will showcase its leadership in hosting various events, festivals, and global exhibitions. Sharjah?s key tourism elements mark the development of the Emirate. The promotion, through the event, will adhere to the vision of H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah to grab the attention of local and international tourists. However, Sharjah is still enjoying the image of the most exciting destinations among travelers.
H.E. Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Chairman, SCTDA commented on the efforts and hard work of the authority to promote Sharjah?s tourism to attract the maximum number of visitors. The authority is focusing to attract over 10 million local and international visitors to cope up with Vision 2021. He emphasized on the correct combination of traditional features and modern infrastructure to garner attention. He considers ATM as a global platform to offer the best services to the visitors.
He added, ?Apart from creating hype around new hotels and tourist destinations in the emirate, we will highlight Sharjah?s recent UNESCO award of ?World Book Capital 2019 and complement the Arab region?s ongoing efforts to nurture a culture of reading.?
H.E. Hana Saif Al Suwaidi, EPAA Chairperson appreciated the participation of the authority and acknowledged the efforts made to attract visitors to Sharjah. She also commented on the significant attempts to create a healthy atmosphere in the region. She continued, ?They have diverse ecosystems and they include coasts, marine environments, sand dunes, mountainous areas, valleys, gravel plains, and the ecosystem and geological structures of sabkhat areas or salt flats.?
H.E. Ali Salim Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Airport Authority expressed the keen interest to participate in the event. He assured to provide world-class facilities at the airport to make the travel hassle-free and comfortable for the visitors. He added, ?The size of the market, the importance of the exhibitors and the significance of the participants make this a valuable opportunity to showcase the Airport?s services and facilities. ?This year, Sharjah Airport Authority will focus on the airport?s facilities and most prominent services as well as the comprehensive AED 1.5 billion airport expansion plan, which includes the expansion of the terminal building to increase the airport?s capacity to 20 million passengers by 2025.?
H.E. Manal Ataya, Director-General of Sharjah Museums Authority (SMA) informed that the participation of the authority will lead to the development while gathering the visitors? attention to the museums of Sharjah. Sharjah has a lot of museums that add to its cultural heritage. She continued that the latest museum, the Khor Fakkan Fort will be the major highlight to showcase in the Arabian Travel Market. She added, ?Sharjah recognizes culture as a vehicle that facilitates harmony and understanding among people and it continues to be at the forefront of investment in cultural projects in the region.?
