Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) concluded the fourth edition of ‘IoT India Congress 2019’ on August 23, 2019. The two-day event included panel discussions, keynote addresses, automotive live exhibition session and much more.
More than 1,600 people comprising of speakers, industry leaders, and government stakeholders attended the event. Key officials from the IoT industry also witnessed the event. The fourth edition consisted of ten panel discussions, four use case sessions, and 5 future tech spotlight sessions.
Ajay Prakash Sawhney, Secretary of Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology noted the role of IoT in India and the world. He focused on introducing the combination of emerging technologies like IoT, Blockchain, 3D Printing, etc. “IoT will be the champion in adding to the proliferation of data,” added Ajay.
Dr. Rishi Mohan Bhatnagar, Chairman, IET IoT Panel and President, Aeris Communications, delivered the opening speech of the event. Being a member of the IET IoT Panel, he focused on adopting new technology. “With IoT gaining the momentum in India, it is an exciting moment to witness the amalgamation of government and industry bodies together at the 4th edition of the IoT India Congress,” said Dr. Bhatnagar.
Dr. Bhatnagar finds belief in IoT has the potential to change the way things function .“We at IET IoT Panel understand the necessity to connect the industry leaders to further the growth and adoption of IoT technology,” he concluded.
Aeris Communications is a preferred IoT technology partner for enterprises. It participated in the event for the fourth consecutive year. It set up a booth to showcase IoT live use cases and solutions with electric vehicle OEMs. Aeris Communications showcased Kinetic Electric’s 3-wheeler and Tresmeto eBike this year, which garnered a lot of attention from the visitors. Sir Robin Saxby, the former Chief Executive & Chairman, ARM Holdings also visited the booth.
Mr. Sameer Mahapatra, Country Sales Head, India, and SAARC at Aeris Communications took key challenges for the connected car and vehicle ecosystem into consideration. He stressed the use of 5G which is a must for Vehicle to Vehicle and Vehicle to Infrastructure proliferation while speaking in the panel discussion on Digital Communications.
On the second day, Mr. Ranjeet Koul, Vice President and Country Manager, APAC & MEA, delivered a presentation on Farm Equipment as a service. He highlighted Aeris Communication’s achievements in Africa in collaboration with Hello Tractor. The model is also getting replicated in Bangladesh and India.
Aeris IoT Solutions and Services for the Agricultural sector helps small to medium land holding farmers to rent farm equipment and pay only for the number of hours they use the equipment. Mr. Koul focused on using technology to yield better results in the field.
The event also hosted several tracks on the impact of IoT in various sectors like Automotive, Telecommunication, Digital Payments, Skills and education, Manufacturing, Smart Cities and Engineering Technologies, etc.

Ramana Reddy, IAS- Additional Chief Secretary, Department of ITBT, GoK, Juergen Hase- CEO, Unlimit, Prof David De Roure, Professor- eResearch, University of Oxford, Anil Kadam – GM, Schneider Electric, Praveen Arora – Vice President, India IoT, Tata Communications were some of the reputed people who attended the event.
