Khalifa Fund encourages entrepreneurship among Emirati girls

The Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development (KFED) organized the Girls’ Summer Camp. Held at the Institute of Applied Technology in Mohammed bin Zayed City, Abu Dhabi, the camp focused on training Emirati girls to emerge as successful entrepreneurs. Girls between the ages of 14 and 18 participated in the camp. The event emphasized on instilling leadership skills and innovation in them and encouraged their creative ideas and projects as well.

Mouza Al Nasri, Acting Chief Executive Officer, KFED, commented on the Fund’s initiatives including the Girls’ Summer Camp. She added that the camp will encourage them to establish innovative small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Abu Dhabi and the UAE. The Fund organizes events for the Emirati youth frequently.

“The Khalifa Fund initiatives play an important role in promoting a culture of entrepreneurship and freelancing among young people of both genders, while the Girls’ Summer Camp affirms the Fund’s absolute belief in the importance of women’s role in the development of the Emirati society and the national economy. It will also strengthen their leadership position in the business arena and will lead development and growth, under the guidance of our wise leadership to empower women in all sectors and provide them with equal opportunities to participate in the decision-making process,” she continued.

The Fund conducts workshops for both girls and boys to imbibe leadership skills in them.

The Girls’ Summer Camp initiative served as a strategic platform to develop girls’ skills and encourage them to become successful leaders of the future. The girls were trained through theoretical and practical workshops for them to present their ideas and projects. The most outstanding ideas were selected for implementation, using virtual reality (VR) simulations.

The Fund organizes events keeping young people, both girls and boys, in mind. The camp was organized in collaboration with the Etisalat Academy in Dubai. The participants got to learn about the basic principles of entrepreneurship and how to set up SMEs, in addition to engaging in several sports and entertainment activities.

The summer camp for young boys took place from Sunday, July 28, 2019, to August 1, 2019, at the Etisalat Academy in Dubai.
